The Ukrainian Music Institute of America, Inc., sends its most heartfelt condolences to the family of Prof. Rafael Wenke. He was a very active and influential member of the New York City and Newark branches, serving in many capacities for many, many years.. On tour with pianist Daria Hordynska-Karanowycz, he came to Detroit and performed a concert of Ukrainian music. It was incredible, and absolutely memorable!
Bishop Hlib (Lonchyna), also a longtime student of piano and violin in the UMI in Detroit, celebrated a Divine Liturgy for the repose of Prof. Wenke's soul today. May He Rest in Peace! Vichna Yomu Pamiat'!
