Obituary of Susan Piccolo

Susan Piccolo, age 69, passed away on Thursday, April 30th, at home in Cranford, NJ. Susan was born in Brooklyn, NY and was raised in Edison, NJ. She lived most of her adult life in Edison before coming to reside in Cranford, NJ in 2014, where she remained to the present. Susan attended John P. Stevens High School and went on to further her education at Kean College. She obtained a Masters Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. Susan began working in the Edison Township school district as a Special Education Teacher before becoming a Social Worker on the Child Study Team. She worked for 37 years in the district and also maintained a private counseling practice in Metuchen as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Susan was an amazing mother, Nonna (grandmother), sister, aunt, friend, counselor and confidant. She will be remembered for her love of life, her positive attitude, and her tireless enthusiasm. She was devoted to her family and friends and could never do enough to help the people she loved. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and cooking, as well as shopping with her daughters whenever she got the chance. She especially loved caring for, cooking for, and playing with her four grandchildren. Susan is predeceased by her parents, Dominic and Assunta Piccolo. Susan is survived by her three children, Ami Cordaro (formerly Ferlicchi) and her husband Jay Cordaro, Beth Ferlicchi and her husband Derek Nececkas, and Matthew Ferlicchi; and her grandchildren Sebastian Nececkas, Warren Nececkas, Leo Cordaro, and Susan Cordaro. She is also survived by her sister Judi Piccolo Torsky, and her brothers John (Jack) Piccolo and Ray Piccolo. A private Funeral Service with a Live Stream will be held at Higgins Home for Funerals.
