Obituary of David E. Marcinkowski
David Marcinkowski, 51 years old, passed away suddenly at home in Greenbrook, NJ, on May 4, 2020.
David was born in Elizabeth, NJ to Edward and Barbara Marcinkowski, April 4, 1969. He graduated from Elizabeth High School, moving on to obtain his BA from Kean University, then went on to receive his MA in Media Studies from the New School. He then became an Associate Director of Computing Services at Pratt Institute while also serving as an Associate Professor there.
He also taught at Parsons, the New School, and Raritan Valley Community College.
David was a devoted and loving husband and father. On October 29, 1999, he married the love of his life Sandra Ortiz, a few years after they gave birth to their loving daughter Zoe Marcinkowski, the apple of his eye. David is also the dear brother to Carol Lauch, Guy Marcinkowski, George Guiditta, Laura Marcinkowski, and Lateef Sheppard. He was also a loving, supportive uncle to Winter Lauch, Madison Lauch, Connor Lauch, Jennifer Zapata, and Omar Mahgoub. He was loved by extended family, friends, coworkers, and students.
Roland Feliciano, Rosalyn Nina-Cianfano, and Andres Huerta, David’s chosen family, will always keep his memory alive through their memories, their stories about him and his legacy.
David was extremely passionate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and hard working. He was selfless and always willing to help. He was a rare soul and an inspiring person to many. David had an infectious laugh, always filling the room with joy and vitality. David lived life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by all the family and friends that have had the honor of knowing him.
