Obituary of Walter Bowden
Walter Bowden, age 89, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at his home in Berkeley Heights. He was born and raised in the Arbor section of Piscataway, had lived in Plainfield, Bridgewater, Surfside Beach, SC, and for the past 11 years resided in Berkeley Heights.
Walter served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was a Sales Manager for McLean Trucking in Kearney for over 25 years.
Walter's entire life he was interested in health and fitness and was an avid golfer. Many people knew and respected him for his sincere disposition and his open, caring nature. The most important thing in his life was his family, he was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Evelyn in 2006 and his son, Walter Donald in 1974.
Surviving are his son, Rick Bowden and his wife, Doreen of Berkeley Heights, his daughter, Suzanne Lathrop and her husband, Rick of Bridgewater; and his 4 grandchildren, Nicholas Bowden, Perrin, Molly and Will Lathrop.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 from 3:30-8 p.m. at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. A gathering at the Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m with words of comfort from the family beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
