Obituary of Antonietta Messercola

Antonietta DeCarolis Messercola of Watchung, N.J., 84, died on Friday, May 8, 2020 at JFK Hospital in Edison, N.J. She was born in Fontechiari, Italy. Antonietta moved to Brooklyn, N.Y with her sisters in 1951, and then eventually moved to Newark, Union, and Watchung, N.J. where she and her husband Augusto raised her beloved family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading the newspaper, working on her garden, watching Italian Mass on television, and having a house full of people to eat and enjoy her delicious meals. Antonietta loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed. She is survived by and was a loving wife of Augusto Messercola for 65 years. She is survived by her sons: Bernardo Messercola and his wife Fabiana and grandchildren Marco and Arianna. Ergino Messercola and his wife Dina and grandchildren Gino, Stefanie and Matt and "great- grandchild" Luca. Fernando Messercola and grandchildren Justin, Jenna, and Lauren. She is survived by her brother Ezio and his wife Gina. Also her sister in law Eufrasia DeCarolis. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Antonietta was also predeceased by her loving parents Ergino and Filomena DeCarolis. Her brother Nicola DeCarolis. Her sister and brother in law Elena and Felice Borgonsoli. Her sister and brother in law Pia and Emilio Martino. A private Funeral Service with a Live Stream will be held at Higgins Home for Funerals.
