Mr. Sicola was my school music teacher from 1972 to 1976 in Cranford, at Livingston, then Hillside Ave Schools. I studied privately with him in Fanwood during those years. His influence on my life remains, as I have continued actively performing as a drummer in bands to this day. I am just learning of his passing and am thankful for the video tribute here. It reinforces my memory of him as a talented, humble, compassionate man who was able to positively influence so many lives. I remember his white VW van, coming to his green house in Fanwood, entering through the garage, hearing a dog bark upstairs, and most of all his patience with me when he realized I had not practiced my assigned lesson. I have treasured memories of you sir and am thankful to have known you.

I’ve been remembering name of Army guys I served with. Today I looked up Thomas Sicola. He was Sargent Sicola then. We were in the percussion section of the 26th Army Band in Staten Island. In 71 I got sent to Indianapolis. We did meet up once or twice when we were both civilians again. He was a great guy. Looking at the video he certainly lived a wonderful life. I am sorry I didn’t get to see him again. My condolences to his family. May he RiP. Sp 4 John RDay

My condolences and prayers to Nadine, Laura, Tom and their families at the loss of Deacon Tom, husband and father. We all have such fond memories of him at OLM. And I am grateful to have known him. I know Tom will be dearly missed.
I was grateful and happy to see such a beautiful funeral for him online and to hear such wonderful tributes made by Diane, Laura and Tom, as well as beautiful preaching by Monsignor Benwell - and music, which was so dear to him.
"Death is not the extinguishing of the light, but putting out the lamp because of the dawn."
May Tom be enjoying his eternal reward.
Love and prayers,
Barbara Sanderman

When I heard Fr. Carton praying for Tom during a St. Vincent's daily Mass, (I was watching live stream from Virginia) I was taken aback. Nadine, after watching the video , I was struck by how very much Tom was devoted to you and your lovely family. He was such a gentle man of faith. Those years of you and Tom following my adoration hour and our conversations following our Marine son's deployment were grace filled. I imagine our Toms shared a love for dancing and picture the day we can join in the "Grand Dance" at the King's Ball! My deepest condolences during this time of pain. Please be assured of my prayers, Nadine. May God's grace heal your heart day by day. God bless you and your family.

Mr. Sicola was my middle school music teacher at Hillside Avenue School in Cranford. He taught me how to play the trombone, which I still play over 30 years later. He was an early and tremendous influence in developing my love for performing. I can’t thank him enough. Even though he was my teacher, he made you feel like family when you entered his classroom. He will be truly missed. My deepest condolences. -Donato Toto

I had Mr. Sicola as an elementary and middle school band teacher and absolutely adored him. He had a way of making everyone feel special and encouraging his students to always keep trying their best. He was one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. I asked him to officiate my wedding in 2014 and he did a beautiful job, making me feel special once again. I am so sad to hear of his passing, and will be praying for the Sicola family during this difficult time. I will miss you, Mr. Sicola.

I had Mr. Sicola as my band/music teacher back in 1978-80 at Hillside Ave. Middle School. He is absolutely one of my favorite teachers of all time. He was always a lot of fun but also kept us in line when necessary and made us great as a band. He was a great inspiration for me to practice hard to be the best I could be. He was a great mentor and I always looked up to him. Rest in peace, Mr. Sicola. Condolences to all friends and family.

Tom was a gentle, quiet soul.
Largely because of his son Tom’s military service , he was always supportive of Nancy and me when our sons were in harm’s way on military deployments. He was a constant presence in our parish. He will be missed.
Praying for a Nadine and the family..
