We lost one of a kind. Our professional and geographic paths diverged but I cherish the memories of our occasional meetings as the 50-some intervening years instantly melted away. george wolken

John Farraye posted a condolence

Hi Barbara, Hillary, Lindsay and John. My name is John Farraye and I worked with John at the Sleep Health Institute at Chilton, where I served as the Manager. I, and my family, am so very sorry to hear of this sad news. I always thought of John as a mentor in Sleep medicine (I like to think that I also taught him a thing or two, but that’s between him and me). I feel that I can also speak for the entire Sleep Medicine community and say that we have lost one of the truest gentlemen and professional clinicians and advocates this industry has ever known. It was a pleasure and an honor to work beside John for the time that I did and to consider him a friend. My and my family’s prayers for your family will remain with you. God rest John’s soul and bless you all.

Barbara, my deepest condolences. I have great memories with John at parties in Watchung & Warren while in high school and college. Back then it was having a beer or two and some of his antics always made me laugh.
I know by you he will be surely missed, but also by his many friends.
Sincerely, Ed Schultz

Dear family of Dr. Penek's,
I was a patient of Dr. Penek's and appreciated the obituary and video.
He was the only Doctor that I will ever know that gave out his own cell phone so that you could get in touch with him. He had a caring manner about him.
I spoke to him when he was in the hospital a few months ago. 5De2dMay he rest in peace. Thinking of you all in his family at this sad time. Sincerely,
Laura Andersen
