Obituary of Carmine A. Festa

Carmine A. Festa, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at RWJ University Hospital Somerset in Somerville. Born and raised in Jersey City, he moved to Somerset in 2009, to be closer to his family. Carmine served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955, during the Korean War on a destroyer the USS Gatling. He was employed for 38 years with Local 472, in Newark as a laborer working on heavy road construction, he retired in 1994. He was a member of St. John's the Baptist RC Church in Jersey City. In his spare time, he dabbled in the stock market, enjoyed watching Jeopardy, was an avid Yankee fan and loved playing cards. Carmine loved most of all spending time with his grandchildren and will be sorely missed by everyone. Predeceased by his parents Andrea and Angelina (Palangio) Festa and siblings Lawrence, Mary, Antoinette and Lucy. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years Angela (Ioffredo) Festa; sons Andrew Festa and his wife Amy and Anthony Festa and his wife Cristina; grandchildren Alexandria, Gina, Christopher, Matthew and Sofia; his sister Jeannie Leonard. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020, from 4-8 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 9 a.m. at the Funeral Home followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament RC Church in Martinsville. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
