Mrs.Verdi, is a beautiful, selfless, giving, kind woman. As a child, I was Debbie from across the street to my beautiful second mom. She cooked for me, cleaned up my cuts, sewed my pants when I ripped them playing, hemmed my clothing, always had Twix bars in her TV room candy bowl for us to snack on, a jug of sweet iced tea in the fridge (my favorite) and gave me countless rides to and from school and cheerleading practice. She spent hours and hours talking to me about life. All the talks we had were special. Many were centered around her friends, Portugal, her sisters and nieces, my kids, my husband, Anna, Bob, her beautiful granddaughters, my sister, my parents and what her life was like when she first came to this country. I enjoyed every moment with her. Moreover as an adult, I truly realized and admired what an amazing woman she is; one who lived a life of dedication to her work, family and friends, was fair, smart, strong and lived a life of holiness always doing the right thing; being kind and loving to all who were part of her circle. She is a true friend, a second mom to me who I appreciate and thank for all that she gave me from the day I met her in 4th grade until now, as I am 54 years old. My parents Charlie and Sandy Facciponti feel blessed to have had Maria and Jean Verdi as neighbors and friends and think of Anna and Bob as part of our family. I will always love you and cherish you and feel so blessed to have learned many life lessons from you. Most importantly, you gave me your time and wisdom along with my two best friends, Anna and Robert who I adore like siblings.
God Bless you Mama Maria! You are at peace now with your Johnny. Making soup together in heaven for all up there to enjoy.
I will miss you, but your smile, your words and your heart will always be with me. Mrs. Verdi is... and always will be... a big part of my life. Thank you.
All my love,
Debbie ("Lafondante) Facciponti-Kane

As a step mother-in-law to Maria’s daughter, Anna, I was very fortunate to spend time with Maria on a number of occasions at Anna’s home in New York. I was literally spellbound by her stories of growing up in the Azores, as well as her meeting, marriage and life with Jean. Muito obrigada, Maria, for all that you shared. XSuzanne

Maria was my daughter-in-law's mother. We shared granddaughters and many family memories. I was blessed to have had her in my life.

Maria was my the first person I met when I moved to Vero Beach. She was my next door neighbor and a great friend. She was a kind and loving lady who touched the lives of all who knew her. May God bless her.
