Mary was truly remarkable woman. Her spunk, love of life, sense of humor will be sorely missed. She has touched so many lives and I am fortunate to be one of them. There will always be a hole in the family gatherings without her being there.
She was a wonderful mother, gram, and mother-in-law to my brother Ed.
May she rest in peace, in heaven with her beloved husband and daughter Pam.

I’m so honored and grateful to have gotten to meet the one, the only Mary Flannery. I’ll always treasure memories of going for breakfast together at the country squire, watching her play solitaire and listening to she and Beth gab <3. Much love to all of her clan and loved ones

I have many memories of “Aunt” Mary but the one that stands out the most in my mind was how she helped me as my mother, her best friend, Betty was dying. Her daily phone calls to hear how her friend was doing were also to see how my sisters and I were doing and I could feel that. Then one day she asked me to put the phone to Betty’s ear and I did and I watched my mother smile even though at that point she really couldn’t speak. When I took the phone back, Mary asked about my mother’s reaction and I told her about the smile and Mary giggled. I loved the fact that they could share humor at a time of such emotional pain. At that moment it was the most beautiful display of love and friendship that I will ever witness. Soon after, my mother did pass away but Mary still wrapped my sisters and I in her cocoon of caring and strength until we re-established our own strength. For that I was and will always be eternally grateful. She will always be an example of strength, generosity, compassion, humor and deep love. She will be greatly missed by “Betty’s girls”. Barbara, Marita, Gail, Jackie, Kathy and Beth – thank you for sharing your mom with us. Love, Michele

My deepest condolences to Mary & Jack's family on Mary's passing. I was so very sorry to hear this news. Mary was one in a million. I was a neighbor of Mary's for many years while my family lived next door. She always had such a great big smile on her face and always seemed like she knew a private joke that the world didn't. I am not surprised she lived as long as she did. Her great sense of humor and optimistic personality were something you don't see everyday. I have great memories of Mary and Jack in their home as they always invited us over, even just for a cold drink. Jack agreed to let me interview him for a school project I was doing a long time ago and I still remember sitting and talking with Mary afterward. I guess she had that kind of effect on people. I will miss her (and Jack) dearly but am so grateful to have known them, even as their neighbor. May she and Jack rest in peace always. Thank you both for the memories.

My family met the Flannerys later in Mary’s life and, after knowing them for a short time, we wished we were true family, but we sure felt that way. We certainly wished we had more time with Mary. She was spirited, very smart, generous, and a pleasure to be around. Her daughters are a reflection of all that she was.
A few years ago, Barbara arranged for a few of Mary’s St. MAarten friends to visit her in her beautiful home. We were privileged to share a wonderful luncheon prepared by the lady herself, all by herself! She was several years into her nineties!
She leaves a lifetime of love and devotion....sending much love to this great family.....

My family was very fortunate to live next door to Jack and Mary for over 25 years in Warren. They were the best neighbors and we quickly became good friends. We shared good times together, dinners, family milestones, good conversation and lots of laughs!. They watched our daughters grow up and we were able to see their family grow. They would always share updates on their daughters and their respective families. Jack and Mary provided our family such good memories.
Mary was an amazing women. Such high energy all the time, always with a big smile, a quick wit and funny. She made you laugh and at the same time made you feel very warm and part of her life. We were lucky to have her part of our life and she will be missed.
May Mary and Jack rest in peace together always!

Mary was a pistol. The biggest smile on the sweetest woman....I knew her as my grandmother's (Betty Fitzgerald back then) friend in High School. I had always heard her name in wonderful stories, but it wasn't until Betty's passing in 2010 that I met Mary and her incredible daughters for the first time. She was the tiniest little thing, and sharp as a whip. She didn't need ANYONE to help her! The last time I saw Mary with my Mom, Michele Pearson, was in her home in New Jersey. I walked up to the house to find a clothing line FULL of laundry. Put there by her. All by herself. This was a mere 4 years ago. I'll never forget that clothing line full of laundry, and i hope to be hanging my own at the age of 95. These photos were taken that day at Mary's house. I wanted to share them. While I was saddened to hear of Mary's departure, I couldn't help but smile thinking about her, Jack, and my grandmother all reunited again. My thoughts and love to the entire Flannery family.

Mary had a good and productive life. She did so much to help others and I feel fortunate to have shared a part of her journey. I was working for Catholic Community Services when we started Engle Center together. So many lives were enriched because of this program and it would not have happened without the love and support from Mary and Jack.
I want to extend my sympathy to the family and know that Mary will be at peace together with Jack again.
