Priscilla James

Obituary of Priscilla Coleman James

Priscilla ‘PJ’ James entered this life on Friday, March 21, 1947, to her parents, the late Josephine Drew and Henry Coleman. She, along with her siblings, grew up in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. You could often find Priscilla shopping around at her local thrift store, Unique, and searching for garage sales! Oh, how she loved a good deal and dressing to impress! Priscilla had a funny sense of humor. She enjoyed making family and friends laugh, especially by carrying around hot sauce and pulling it out at restaurants, with no shame at all! You could always count on her having ‘church candy’, Splenda, and peppermints in her purse. Priscilla lived in various towns, some most recently being North Plainfield and Plainfield. She also belonged to The Well Church in Piscataway, New Jersey, where she was a faithful member for years. She adored hearing Pastor Wilson preach, Reverend Bazemore’s Altar Call, listening to the lovely ensemble, praying with Gloria and Mother Wilson. In June 2020, PJ was diagnosed with Stage IV T-Cell Lymphoma Cancer. After a five-month-long battle, PJ finally beat the aggressive cancer and gained her angelic wings on Saturday, November 14th, 2020. She was surrounded by her loving family up until the end. Priscilla is predeceased by her parents, Josephine Drew and Henry Coleman, and her brother, Harry Coleman. Priscila leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Ronald (Sheri) and Michael (Tiffany), both of Plainfield, NJ. A sister, Patricia Johnson of Florida. Two brothers, Dwight Drew, of New Brunswick, NJ, Arthur Brewton of Keyport, NJ, and Henry Drew of Florida. Her “Sisters-In-Christ” Gloria Goins, Delice Currie, Pam Doyle, Bobbie Pettiford, seven grandchildren, Ronald (Buddah), Michael (Mike Mike), Tyler, Tory, Taylor, Morgan, and Makayla, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom she loved dearly. In the words of Priscilla, “Thank you for coming to my Party” and “How you doin’?”
