Obituary of Nadia N. Mezach-Mooloo
Nadia N. Mezach-Mooloo, age 86, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 17, 2020. She was born on June 22, 1934, in Nickerie, Suriname, and moved to Guyana from Suriname when she was a teenager. Nadia also lived in Plainfield, NJ for over 20 years.
Nadia was a member of the large Griffith family of Suriname and Allicock family of Guyana. She is remembered as a doting and caring homemaker who loved to dance, sing, crochet, cook, bake, and garden. She also delighted in telling jokes and loved to make everyone around her happy.
She was a devoted parishioner of Grace Episcopal Church in Plainfield and an active member of the Senior Citizens' Center of Plainfield, NJ. Nadia’s faith in God was steadfast and served as a foundation on which her life was lived. It was this faith that carried her through the later years
in life.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Cyril Mooloo (aka Yanga); her three children, Rudolph, Neville, and Joy; and her mother Elsa, and five siblings.
She is survived by her eleven remaining children: Clifford, Cyril, John, George, David, Joycelyn, Joseph, Henry, Leon, Albert, and Terrence. She is also survived by her eight siblings: Edwin, Nerissa, Norma, Doreen, Leonie, Vida, Olive, and Ann. She leaves to mourn a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to thank everyone for the love and support that was shown to Nadia.
A public visitation will be held at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ, on Monday, November 23, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A private family service will follow at 7:00 p.m. **Burial will be at Christianburg Cemetery in Linden, Guyana.
