I was in the 7th grade when Ron first started working at Wilson Memorial Church. He Was kind, caring, energetic and funny. He became a devoted friend for life and presided over the funerals of several members of my family. As a young person I thought his sermons were inspiring and informative. My condolences to his wonderful family. He will be missed. My only regret was that he was not with us to preside over my mother Dorothy's memorial service a month ago.

Our deepest condolences to Lonnie, Sarah, Ronnie and families. We are all so lucky to have known him and to have benefited from his influence in our lives and our families lives. He was a very special person and he had a very special partner in Lonnie.
We did move away, but have many fond memories of our years at Wilson. Our family foundation was built there.

I always loved the baby walk down the aisle during Christenings. He was indeed the baby whisperer. Looking at Ron here makes me smile, seeing the woman in the back makes me want to cry as he is gone now. Rest in Pease Ron.

I met Ron through Lonnie when I began my ministry at Christ Presbyterian Church. He was quick to identify and encourage my particular gifts for ministry. His genuine interest and wise counsel gave me confidence. He especially loved celebrating the Baptism of Jesus with us at CPC after his retirement. It was a special gift that Ron and Lonnie surprised me with a visit on the very day I left Martinsville to begin a new ministry in New York. His kind spirit was still palpable and I will cherish his encouragement always.

Dear Lonnie, Sarah, and Ron, Jr. and Family - I was very saddened to hear of Ron's passing on Christmas Day this evening. As I read his obituary, tears filled my eyes. As you know Ron, was my Pastor of many years, our church life goes way back to the time he came to Wilson Memorial from Drew when Pastor Ost was then our leading Pastor. Ron baptized my daughter, Leslie, and worked with Marion Schumacher and me in teaching Sunday School for a number of years while both my children, Eric and Leslie, were attending glasses. Lonnie, you included me by inviting my children and me to your home and to many activities at church. You and Ron always had a warm greeting at all events. Ron always asked how I was doing, especially after my Mom passed away so many years ago. He helped her with her teaching of the adult Bible class which she really appreciated and from which she got great inspiration. He sent her one time on a search of the seven great religions of the world - what fun Mom and I had chasing that one down. I still have those books from that time and I still look at them from time to time. Wilson Memorial was a special place. Memories of Christmas Eve services, Lenten services, dinners, and even theater will always be with me. How fitting it is that Ron passed away on Christmas Day. I have no doubt that the Lord was waiting for him when he crossed over to welcome him, his good and faithful servant. Know that I hold all of you in my heart and in my prayers at this time. Pastor Ron was one of the few people who understood my deep faith back then and now in angels who come and watch over us in a time of sorrow. I pray that an angel of the Lord is watching over you at this time. For some reason, I am sure there is a special angel doing just that.
In Christ's love and with much caring - Cathie

I knew Ron from his many years as a member of Mountain Fitness. Always genial and smiling, Ron never had a bad word about anyone.
He would have many remembrances of his childhood in Kansas, his Army service, and his years as a local Pastor. Ron had a nice word to everyone he encountered while striding away on his Elliptical machine. Most of all, he was proud of Lonnie and his large family. Ron leaves a legacy of gentle kindness. While the content of programs was sometimes uneven, conversations with ICCC friends have always been a highlight of the Annual Conferences, and among those, conversatons with Ron (as with his wife Lonnie) have always been something to look forward to. His compassion, humanity and true humility always shown through and remain as rich memories to be treasured. While his physical presence will be missed, his presence among the 'cloud of witnesses' which surround us will continue to bring blessing.

There are so many memories. He was a gentle man and his family were just great caring people. From Lonnie, always going out of her way to greet me when she saw me, to their kids who I would see in different t stores who came and say hi. Ron and my Dad were very close and he was there when my Dad passed. He married me and then again, was there when my Mom passed. You just always knew he would be there. What a blessing from God to pass on Christmas! Our love and prayers to Lonnie and their children. He will be truly be missed. Bill & Tracee
