Obituary of Yong-Jin Chong

Yong Jin “Matthew” Chong, age 48, passed away on Thursday January 21, 2021 at his home in Palisades Park NJ. Born in South Korea, Yong Jin had resided in New Jersey for many years; during that time he had lived in Jersey City, Edison and most recently Palisades Park. Yong Jin also had lived in Long Beach, California for ten years, while living there he started his own business “Matt’s Juice Bar”.

Yong Jin was a graduate of Rutgers College in New Brunswick and continued to earn his law degree from Rutgers Law School in Newark.

While attending J.P Stevens High School in Edison, Yong Jin played on their football team as a linebacker. He continued his passion for football throughout his life. One of his favorite pass times was to watch college football on Saturdays.

He is survived by his parents, Yang Soo and Soon Ji Chong; two sisters, Tiffany French and her husband Dan, and Boyong Flynn and her husband, Patrick; nieces and nephews Ian, Abby, Peter, and Fiona. He is also survived by his Auntie Yae Ji Kim, cousins Debbie, John and their families.

Due to the covid-19 Pandemic funeral services will be held privately by the family.
