Obituary of Margaret Kreckie
Margaret (Kuchmanich) Kreckie of Greenbrook, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, just 3 weeks before her 97th birthday.
Marge was born to Harry and Anna Kuchmanich in Jessup, PA. She and her beloved husband Thomas Sr. raised their children in Irvington before all moving to Greenbrook in 1980.
She led a religious life, proud of her Slovak heritage and the Catholic faith.
She was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Byzantine Church in Jessup, currently a parishioner of St. Mary's Stoney Hill Church in Watchung, and a member of the Rosary Altar Society.
Marge devoted her life to her family. She lovingly took care of her husband through years of disability and illness. She adored her 2 sons and her 3 grandsons and doted on her pets like people. She was grateful as her family continued to grow, thrilled at the arrival of each baby great-grandchild, and excited to have girls in the family as well! She would say how very blessed by God she was. She never missed sending birthday or anniversary cards and remembered all the dates. In every card, she expressed her love, and always sent "All of God's Blessings".
She took great pride in her beautiful home and scenic property on the mountain, and couldn't wait to cook for everyone who visited. Her delicious recipes for halupki and handmade pierogi have been passed down generations and are now being learned by her great-grandchildren.
Marge is predeceased by her husband Thomas, Sr., her siblings Julie, Anna, John, Harry, and Peter, and her heavenly angel, great-granddaughter Hanna Rose.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas Jr and his wife Estelle of Jackson, and Gary of Greenbrook and his fiancée Denise Grillo; Grandchildren Jason and his wife Kristina, John and his wife Anita, Matthew and his girlfriend Shannon; Great-grandchildren John Jr, Mia, Emily, Lily, Nora, Amelia, and Thomas; her sisters Mary Bucca and Kay Kuchmanich; former daughter in law Patrice Kreckie, and many nieces and nephews, church friends, and extended family members.
Marge was a very sweet, friendly lady, who enjoyed socializing and always had kind words and a smile. She was loved and will be missed by everyone who was fortunate to have known her.
