Obituary of Arlene Paula Schulman

Arlene Paula Schulman (formerly Richards) April 22, 1946 - March 30, 2021, age 74, passed away peacefully in Brooklyn after a long journey with Alzheimer's Disease.  Arlene grew up in the Bronx, attended City College, and moved to Brooklyn in 1965, where she started her teaching career in early childhood education. 
 
In 1972, she married Dr. Daniel Schulman, and they resided first in Buffalo/Niagara, NY, then in Albany, NY and later in Indiana. After starting a family, Arlene and Dan returned and settled in Brooklyn in 1980.  Arlene taught Pre-Kindergarten in Brooklyn's public schools for more than 30 years, and was a dedicated and beloved teacher at PS. 236 in Mill Basin.  She influenced the growth of thousands of children and their families, and inspired her fellow-teachers and colleagues.  
 
Arlene was predeceased by her husband in 2000, and is survived by her sons Eugene and Mark, daughters-in-law Ilene and Carrie, and grandchildren Jacob, David, Noah and Genevieve.  
 
Arlene will be extraordinarily missed, and remembered always as loving, generous, funny, intelligent, passionate, and fiercely loyal by her family, friends, colleagues and students.
