Maryann Fougere

Obituary of Maryann Fougere

Maryann Fougere was born on June 19, 1951. She was raised in Maplewood, NJ and moved to Hillsborough, NJ in 1990, where she raised her three children, Peter, Devon, and Meredith, with her then husband, Albert Trabilsy. Maryann earned an education degree from Seton Hall University. She spent 20 years as a dedicated stay-at-home mom, raising her three children, but returned to the education field in her 60s as an employee at the Goddard School. There she regained her passion for working with children. She particularly enjoyed working with small groups on literacy skills, empowering kids to read and write. While Maryann was not religious through a church, she was spiritual and a true believer in a higher power. Her over 25 years of experience through AA guided her spiritually, and she became a mentor and sponsor for countless addicts during their time of need. Anyone who knew her, knew her door was always open, whether it was for a few hours or a few weeks, and Maryann was always the first to offer her house as a home to anyone who needed it.

There was no shortage of hobbies and passions throughout Maryann’s life. From being a competitive sailor and a professional first mate to cake decorating and bird watching, you could always count on Maryann to go all in on anything she loved. Not only was she passionate, but she always pulled people in, encouraging others to live every moment to the fullest. Her tenacity and zest for life was unmatched, and it will be deeply missed by those close to her.

She is survived by her three children, Peter Trabilsy, Devon Maloney, and Meredith Trabilsy, and her grandchildren, Luke and Maggie Maloney, and her step-grandchildren, Emerson and Benjamin Fazio.  Lastly, she is also survived by her brother, Bobby Fougere, and her sister, Carol Wade.
