Obituary of Maria Podilchuk

Maria Podilchuk, age 89, passed away on Friday April 30th, 2021. Born in Wolowiec Ukraine, Maria had grown up in Wroclaw, Poland before moving to the United States in 1959. She had resided in New York and New Jersey before settling in Union, New Jersey.

While living in Poland, Maria earned her degree in education and began her work as a kindergarten teacher. After moving to the United States, she continued her career as a waitress in various restaurants throughout New York and New Jersey.

Maria possessed a natural talent for art and drawing, and was musically inclined, playing the violin when she was younger. Living a modest life, Maria was a genuinely kind person, a friend to all, with a willingness to help anyone in need. She was hard working and very dedicated to her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and making pierogis, a family favorite. She also liked playing the lottery. In the event of winning, she vowed to give it all to her three grandchildren. Maria was always willing to give out her medical advice to anyone, whether they asked for it or not. Most of all, she loved watching her grandchildren. She will be missed by all.

Maria is predeceased by her husband John Podilchuk in 1985, her parents Peter and Cecilia Kolotylo, siblings John, Anna, Dymitr, Andrew, Yuriy, Wasyl, and a baby brother.

She is survived by her two daughters: Christine and her husband Rick, Martha and her husband David, and three grandchildren: Ricky, Olena and Johnny. She is also survived by two siblings: Peter and Julia.
