Obituary of Laura Catani
Laura Catani, age 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at her home in Warren. Born and raised in Jersey City, Laura has resided in Warren since 1965.
Laura had worked her whole life as a baker, having been taught by her father who was an Italian immigrant bread baker. She continued for many years, working with her late husband, John, at the various bakeries they owned throughout New Jersey. The most recent was the L and J Bakery in Hillside.
Laura enjoyed collecting antique dolls and spending time with her family.
She is predeceased by her loving husband John Catani in 1987, and her daughter, Roseanne Dearing.
Laura is survived by her children: Thomas Cook and his wife Ellen, Eugene Cook and his wife Judy, John Catani and his wife Betty and Laura Catani; 11 grandchildren: Johnny, Joseph, Nicki, Dom, Russell, Dawn, Jack, Bob, Kelly, David, and Andrea; 13 great-grandchildren: Kimber, Wyatt, Carly, Addison, Shelby, Melissa, Ashley, Sierra, Amber, Jannelle, Lillian, Jackson, and Francesca. She is also survived by a brother, Enrico, and a son-in-law, Ernie.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery in Stirling.
