Edward Munzer, age 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at his home in Bridgewater surrounded by his loving family. Born in Rawlins, Wyoming, Edward had grown up in New York City and had resided in Westfield NJ, Rahway NJ, and Warren NJ with his first wife Heidi and sons William, Edward, and Robert for 30 years. After Heidi’s passing, Edward moved to Wolfeboro, New Hampshire and was married to his 2nd wife, Cathy. The couple resided in Wolfeboro until Cathy’s passing, and Edward moved back to the Bridgewater NJ area in 2013 where he has since lived with his sons.
Edward received his bachelor’s degree from Fordham University in NY in chemical engineering and later went on to earn his master’s degree. Prior to his retirement, Edward had worked for over 40 years at Merck & Co. in Rahway as a chemical engineer. He was well respected and thought fondly of by all his colleagues.
In his spare time Edward loved to golf. He was an excellent trombone player and was a member of the Westfield, New Jersey community band as well as the Wolfeboro, New Hampshire community band. Edward also loved traveling, especially taking road trips with his wife Cathy to visit all the major American landmarks, including Yellowstone National Park and Mt. Rushmoore. He will be missed by all.
Edward is predeceased by his first wife, Heidi Munzer, his second wife, Cathy Munzer, and his son Robert E. Munzer.
He is survived by his two sons: Edward and William Munzer; and Eight Grandchildren: Heidi and Lauren Munzer, Marcus and Brendon Rieble, Kyle, Corinna, Kendall, and Brittney John.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 1, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at the Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery in Stirling.
