Obituary of John P. Ploshay
John P. Ploshay, age 92, died on Monday, October 1, 2012 at Middlebrook Crossing in Bridgewater. He was born in Plainfield and lived in North Plainfield his entire life.
Mr. Ploshay served in the US Army during World War II as a Technician Fourth Grade and was stationed in Italy, Africa and the Phillipines.
He graduated from Pace University with an accounting degree and prior to his retirement he was an accountant for Western Electric for 45 years.
Mr. Ploshay was a long time treasurer for Cub Scout Pack 35 in North Plainfield. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and was an active member having been an usher until last year. He enjoyed the NY Times crossword puzzle, gardening and playing golf. He also traveled with his late wife exhibiting her oil paintings through the Northeast.
He is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Valerie Ploshay in 1999; his brother, Anthony Ploshay and his sisters, Josephine Moravec and Frances Ploshay.
Surviving are his sons, Jeffrey J. Ploshay and his wife, Martha of Allentown, NJ, Scott P. Ploshay and his wife, Kathy of Chatham, NJ and Drew A. Ploshay and his partner Ron Scott of New Hope, PA. he is also survived by his 2 grandchildren, David and Elizabeth Ploshay.
Funeral services will begin on Friday, October 5th at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church in North Plainfield. Entombment will be at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm.
