Obituary of Lorraine R. Spencer
Lorraine R. Spencer, age 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 20, 2021, at the Hunterdon Care Center in Flemington NJ. Born in Fall River MA, Lorraine had moved to Metuchen when she was two and had resided in North Plainfield, Sayreville, and Plainfield before retiring to Orlando. She moved back to NJ in 2014 to be closer to her family.
Lorraine had worked at NJ Bell as a clerk and later worked in Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center as a nursing secretary in the Labor and Delivery Department.
Lorraine was the mother of 7 children, a devoted Catholic and an active member of St. Mary's RC Church in Plainfield. While living in Orlando, she was very involved in volunteering at Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine. She loved spending time at Disney World and Epcot with visiting family and friends, enjoyed board games such as scrabble and TV game shows, her favorite being Wheel of Fortune. Lorraine also loved eating out with her family at her favorite NJ diners.
Lorraine is predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years John Spencer in 2017; a son Thomas Spencer; a grandson John Robert Spencer and two siblings Robert Caron and Doris Fano.
She is survived by her children John Spencer, Joan Lamastra and her husband Donald, Nancy Angelone and her husband Marc, Mark Spencer, Jacqueline Hurdle and her husband DeWayne and Janet Spencer and her fiancé Edward Gray; eight grandchildren Jennifer, Michelle, Suzanne (Jason), Aimee (Douglas), Matthew, Laura, Gina, Anthony (fiancée Michelle); one step-grandchild Sky; six siblings Lucille Meyers, Annette Wright, Elizabeth Menard, Richard Caron, Lillian Kolbus, and Claudette McCann. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday June 24, 2021, from 9am to 10:30 am at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ 07069 followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel in Warren at 11 am. The entombment will be held at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge NJ.
