Obituary of John Joseph Wojie

John Joseph Wojie, age 78, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Hackensack University Hospital.  Lovingly known as Jack, “The Woj”, Dad, and his favorite, Gramps.   Born in New Brunswick, NJ, Jack grew up in South Amboy, NJ. He attended Malvern Preparatory School and earned a B.S. in Marketing from Boston College in 1964. He graduated Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, R.I., in 1965 and proudly served in the Navy as a Lieutenant.  Jack served during the Vietnam War and received the National Service Award.

Jack joined Avon Products in 1970 as an International Marketing Director.  He had more than 30 years of global business experience as a senior executive for Avon, traveling to 63 countries and 24 waterways. He resided in New Jersey, England, Japan, and in 1995 settled his family in Watchung, NJ.

He was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scotch Plains, NJ the Brompton Oratory in London, England, Our Lady of Light Church in Ft. Meyers, FL, and a current member of St. Mary’s-Stony Hill in Watchung, NJ.

Jack loved the Shore, especially fishing, boating, tennis, the beach, seashells, and many, many hours building Lego.  He also loved his loyal dogs, Buddy and Max, but most of all he cherished family time, especially with his ten grandchildren. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Beverly (Sorrentino) Wojie, his five children, Mark (Jennifer) Wojie, Scott (Kelly) Wojie, Susan (Joe) Farina, Christine (David) Brezee, and Christopher Wojie, as well as ten grandchildren; Maggie, Lexie, Ellie, Michael, Anna, Flynn, Taylor, Olivia, Heath Jack, and Reed.

He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Anna Wojie and his sister Barbara Deem.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021 at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at St. Mary’s-Stony Hill, 225 Mountain Blvd, Watchung, NJ 07069. The burial will immediately follow at St. Mary’s-Stony Hill Cemetery, Plainfield Ave, Watchung.

Memorial donations may be made in his loving memory to the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
