Barbara Ann Silver, née Natanson, age 88, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021. She was born in New York, NY to Leon and Laura Natanson in 1933. She was raised in Manhattan and then lived in Queens before moving to West Orange, NJ where she raised her family. In 1980 she moved to Bridgewater and resided there until she moved to Toms River four years ago.
A great accomplishment in her life was earning her bachelor’s degree from Kean University at the age of 60 years old.
Barbara was a Real Estate Appraiser for her own company, Bridgewater Appraisal Service, in Bridgewater, NJ. Before retiring, she spent 15 years as a Real Estate Marketing Specialist for Weichert Realtors in Watchung, NJ.
Barbara enjoyed completing the NY Times Sunday crossword puzzle, doing jigsaw puzzles, and playing Mah Jongg. She was a very creative person, and was an avid quilter and crocheter. Barbara’s many years spent working in her husband’s clothing store fueled her love of style and décor. She was also a wonderful cook and entertainer.
Barbara is predeceased by her loving husband Edward Silver in 1996.
She is survived by her three children: William Silver and his wife, Judy, Debra Miller and her former husband David, and Patti DiSanto and her husband Victor; her six grandchildren, Moriah, Lee, Jake, Emily, Laura and Joe; and two great-grandchildren, Jasper and Astrid.
Family and friends will always remember her strong-willed independence, her outgoing and welcoming personality, and her bright smile.
A private family funeral service will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ. Barbara’s family will be receiving visitors for shiva at Patti’s home in Hillsborough on Friday, July 23 from 1:00 to 8:00 PM, and Saturday, July 24 from 1:00 to 8:00 PM.
