Obituary of Elizabeth Anne (Bette) Brady

Elizabeth Anne, who went by Bettianne or simply Bette, passed away on 14 July 2021 in San Diego, CA. She was 60.


Born in Brooklyn, New York, Bettianne moved with her family to Martinsville, New Jersey in 1963 and grew up with her five siblings and parents, the late Mary Dolan Brady and Thomas Brady. She attended Bridgewater-Raritan High School East where she was a varsity cheerleader and competed on the gymnastics team. She received an Associates Degree in Art from Raritan Valley Community College. She worked at AT&T as an executive assistant for fifteen years before leaving the corporate world to raise her two children, Iain Andrew Wright and Heather Marie Wright.


Bettianne was a vibrant and generous person. She was filled with creativity, fortitude, and a boundless love for her children. A gifted artist, her home was filled with paintings, murals, photographs and creations in every medium. She loved to travel and explore the nooks and crannies of the world. She was an avid runner and had a strong spirituality. Bettianne will be remembered most fondly for her contagious laugh and sense of humor.


Bette had strength and patience, two qualities that shined when she shared her time with others. She was an active volunteer for most of her life, including volunteering at Everitt Academy through St. Brigid’s Church in Peapack as an art teacher. She was also active in their annual fundraisers. She volunteered at The Second Chance Shop in Peapack-Gladstone as well as Girl Scout Troop 60088 in Bernardsville. Bettianne also devoted her time to people with disabilities through organizations such as Friends of Matheny, Camp Jotoni and the Special Olympics New Jersey.


Bettianne is survived by her two beloved children, Iain Wright and Heather Wright, her father Thomas Brady; her siblings Mary Brady Moran, Thomas Brady Jr. and his partner Eva Bostek- Brady, John Brady and his partner Karen Brady, Patricia Idell and her partner Chris Idell, and Sara Brady and her partner Kevin Wilson; her loving nieces and nephews Jack Moran and his partner Kate Ivins Moran, Christopher Moran, James Moran, Jessica Idell, Christopher Idell, Caileigh Idell, Liam Idell, Ethan Brady, Graham Brady, Kyle Brady, Jennifer Brady, Finn Brady-Wilson, Maeve Brady-Wilson, and grand-niece Maya Ivins Moran.

She is predeceased by her mother, Mary Dolan Brady; and her brother-in-law, Jack Moran.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations be made in the memory of Elizabeth Anne Brady to the Environmental Sierra Club.
