Obituary of William Ginda
William Ginda, age 86, passed away on Saturday, July 24th, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerset, New Jersey. He was born and raised in Carteret, NJ, before coming to reside in Warren, NJ for the past 50 years.
William served in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1957.
After his honorable discharge from the Navy, William was employed by PSE&G in Newark, NJ as an engineer, a job that he turned into a fruitful long-term career.
William kept an active and fulfilling social life, enjoying lunches with his friends and serving as a volunteer firefighter for Mt. Horeb township. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and through the church he attended, travelled many times to Guatemala for volunteer work. He was an avid reader, a meticulous landscaper, and had a great love of ice cream as well.
William is predeceased by his son, Joseph William "Billy", and his granddaughter, Ruthie Nicole.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Shattle, and her husband Skip, his grandchildren Emily and Molly, and his beloved cat Oreo.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 11:00 at Our Lady of the Mount Church. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
