Obituary of Claire Sullivan
Claire Sullivan, 82, of Bernardsville, NJ, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5, at Higgins Funeral Home 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung, NJ 07069 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Her funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help RC Church, 111 Claremont Rd., Bernardsville, NJ on Friday, June 6, at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
Claire was born in Plainfield, NJ, to mother Anne (Blazo) and father Charles Bicknell. She was the sister of Buddy (deceased) and Bert Bicknell, of Altoona, FL. Claire married her high school sweetheart, Sully, and devoted her life to her family of seven children, eighteen grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
Not only was she a companion and business partner to Sully, she also was the core and strength of her family, exuding love and devotion to her three generations of children. She fought a short, courageous battle with cancer, and up until her final moments, Claire was with her family.
In addition to world travels with Sully, she created memories with her family, including her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren, vacationing in St. Maarten. These memories will be passed on to future generations. Holidays were special to Claire, because she was the heart of the family, as Mom, Grammy and Great Grammy. She enjoyed preparing her treasured recipes and showed us all the importance of family and taught us what is really important in life by setting an example and being the center of our lives. She will be missed deeply by all of us, and will forever remain the life and spirit of our family.
