Obituary of June K. Pietro

June K. Pietro, age 80, née Garman, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021. Born in Dayton, Ohio in 1941, to Joseph and Opal Garman, June was raised in Warren, NJ. She also resided in many places throughout her life: Dunellen, West Portal, Bayville, and most recently, Phillipsburg, NJ.

She was a high school graduate of Watchung Hills Regional High School.

 

June worked for the Courier News, Classifieds Department in Plainfield, NJ in the 1960s. She also ran a daycare in Bayville, NJ for many, many years until her retirement in 2003 and was affectionately known by all she cared for as Mommers.

 

June was a very caring and generous person. She was an active member of The Salvation Army of Plainfield, NJ in her youth and her early adult years. Then, she became a founding member of The Salvation Army Ocean Citadel Corps in Toms River, NJ. In recent years, June attended The Sal- vation Army in Flemington, NJ.

 

She loved the beach and especially liked to go down to the Jersey shore, where she had many fond and beautiful memories with her family. June also enjoyed reading, was an avid Elvis and “I Love Lucy” fan and collector, and above all, loved caring for people and animals alike.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents: father, Joseph Watson Garman in 2008 and her mother, Opal Garman in 2004.

 

She is survived by her husband, Paul A. Pietro; her two children: Paul B. Pietro; Laura Mancini, and her husband, Anthony; her three siblings: Gary Garman and his wife, Cynthia, Joan Pierce, and her husband, Thomas, and J. Watson Garman; her five grandchildren: Catherine Fletcher and her husband, Benjamin Fletcher, Brittany Mancini, Anthony J. Mancini, Ashley Pietro, and Madison Pietro.

 

A private interment will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:45 a.m., at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains, NJ. Cremation was private.

 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in June’s name to The Salvation Army – ARC, 60 New Hill Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
