Obituary of Christine C. Clarke
Christine Coventry McCurley Clarke died on October 9, 2021, one month short of her 97th birthday. Born in Harthill, Scotland, in 1924, she emigrated to the Bronx with her father, John, mother, Lizzie, and brother, Bill.
At 22, Chris married Raymond R. Clarke, a career Navy man. She would go on to work as an editor for AT&T, Co-found Meridian Press and all during that time mastering Crossword puzzles and the game of bridge. Her life’s passion was her twenty-year challenge of being a military wife raising four children, while Ray spent months at sea. She managed her family with courage, creative problem solving, humor, and love. Home was Kearny, New Jersey, Lakehurst, NJ, San Diego, California, Pensacola, Florida, Cubi Point, the Philippines, Virginia Beach, VA, Middlesex, NJ, and Somerville, NJ.
She is survived by her four children and their partners; Jim and Wendy, Betsy and Double F, Russ and Marcia, Ginger and Dan; Her beloved grandchildren, Sarah, James, Lauren and Andrew, Ali and Douglas; and four great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Friday, October 15, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. A service will follow and be held at 7:30 PM in celebration of Christine’s life at the funeral home; all are invited to share their memories.
Cremation services and burial at Bound Brook Cemetery will be held privately.
