Obituary of Barbara Ann Hoffman
Barbara Ann Hoffman, age 81, passed away peacefully at her home at the Chelsea in Warren, NJ on December 20. She was born and raised in Plainfield, NJ and had resided in North Plainfield, NJ and Watchung, NJ before moving to the Chelsea in Warren three and a half years ago.
After graduating from Plainfield High School, Barbara furthered her education at Caldwell University, formerly Caldwell College and earned her degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught for 40 years in the Watchung Borough school district. She was a well respected teacher who loved her students.
Barbara was a communicant of Our Lady of the Mount RC Church, in Warren, NJ.
She will always be remembered as a loving, caring, and thoughtful person by all her friends and family, never forgetting a birthday, anniversary or special occasion. Barbara enjoyed listening to music, attending Broadway plays, and traveling. Most of all, though, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, Mary and Andrew Hoffman; her brother, Edward Sullivan; her sister, Doris Chabak; and her nephew, David Chabak.
Barbara is survived by her sister-in-law, Helen Sullivan, her nieces and nephews, Robert Chabak, Joanne Marquis, Peter Sullivan and his wife Catherine Michael Sullivan and his wife Cathy, Mark Sullivan and his wife Laura, Patricia Dillion and her husband William, Nancy Sullivan, Marianne Sullivan and her wife, Debbie, and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and cherished friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Mount Church, 170 Mount Bethel Road, Warren, NJ 07059, followed be an interment at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Cemetery in Watchung, NJ.
Memorial donations may be made in Barbara’s loving name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
