Obituary of Doris Lorenzen

Doris Lorenzen, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family in Raritan.  Doris was born and raised in Somerville, was a long-time resident of North Plainfield, had resided in Warren, before moving to Raritan over one year ago.

She was a devoted mother and homemaker to her four children and a loving mom-mom to her six grandchildren.  Doris had a love of all children and often volunteered to care for all the neighborhood children that called her “Aunt Doris.”  Doris served as a crossing guard for the North Plainfield Board of Education and also worked as a senior care aide. 

Doris always loved spending time with her family.  Traveling with her friends, relaxing at the beach enjoying all the sights and sounds.  Doris especially loved to be with her grandchildren and was so proud of the young adults they have become.  Crocheting was a passion Doris had and would always be excited to make a blanket whenever someone was expecting a baby. 

She is survived by her four children, Kim Martin and her husband Richard, Paul Lorenzen and his wife Colleen, Debbie Warchal, and Nancy Brown and her husband Sean; her six grandchildren, Patrick, Christopher, Samantha, Zachary, Ashly, and Natalie; and her two “sisters,” Myrna Sohl and Diana Simpson.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069.  A private cremation will follow.

Memorial donations may be made in Doris’s loving name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
