You were so much fun! And then you would piss me off or I would piss you off. And then we were friends again. And we laughed and cried and argued and made up. We made it to almost 50 years! You were my best friend and an amazing godfather to my kids. The verbal sparring we shared was one of my favorite pastimes. We had so many laughs. Sarcasm was your strong point. You talked me into driving to Florida with nothing but a jug of pennies, a check for $129 and $50 that you borrowed. We gorged ourselves on munchies together. We danced in supermarket aisles to songs we liked. We renovated a house together without killing each other. We worked on getting the perfect tans on every beach we visited. And before Netflix, we fought over which movie to get from Blockbuster for our weekend sleepovers. And you showed up every time you thought I needed someone strong to hang on to. You have no idea how much I am going to miss you, Pete, but trust me, I will pull out a great memory every time I feel my heart start to ache because I just can’t imagine life without you in it so I’m going to hang on to you in the only way I know how. Please say hi to the Pearl, Elwood, Joe and the Golden Girls for me. And my mom, dad and Freddy too. Love you forever, Stumpy
