‘Sharing time with her family made her happy’, 99

Marie Frances Gable Murphy, 99, of Watchung, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Autumn Lake Healthcare in Berkeley Heights. Marie was born on February 14,1923 in Bayonne, NJ.

She graduated from Bayonne High School, in 1941. In 1942 she worked in New York City as a Medical Assistant.

She married James Michael Murphy in 1949 and moved to Watchung NJ in 1957.

Marie worked for 17 years at Bell Laboratories/AT&T until her retirement. She was a member of the Pioneers, Vice President of the Ladies’ Firemen's Auxiliary, President of the Watchung Senior Citizens, a member of the St. Mary Stony Hill Rosary Society, and a Founding Member of the Red Hats Chapter of Watchung.

She was predeceased by her husband James Murphy in 1993. She is survived by Linda Harding, husband Russell, daughter Cara Conti, husband Michael, their daughter Kylei, Brian Murphy, wife Robin Curran, Karen Spada and husband Guido.

In honor of Marie, the family requests that all who knew her do a kindness for someone in her name.

A private service was held at St. Mary’s-Stony Hill Mausoleum in Watchung, NJ, with immediate family in attendance.
