Obituary of Rosemary Zakowski

Rosemary Elizabeth Zakowski, age 86, passed away on Wednesday February 9, 2022, at the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains NJ. Born and raised in Shenandoah PA, Rosemary had resided in Philadelphia and, for the past 56 years, Watchung NJ.

Rosemary received her nursing degree from the Pottsville School of Nursing. She began her career as a RN at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and later went on to work in New Jersey, first in hospital settings and later as a private duty nurse. 

She was a former member of St. Mary’s Stony Hill RC Church in Watchung.

Rosemary enjoyed cooking and crafting. Her true passion was shopping; even as she was restricted to her home, she quickly found QVC and other home shopping networks. She loved  animals and was very social, engaging in lively conversations with her friends and family and enjoying the trust and support of many neighbors.

She is predeceased by her loving husband Edmund and her beloved children Edmund and Eric and her sister Barbara Shearstone.

She is survived by her sister Patricia J. Stefanik and her husband Michael, her dear friend Tracy Tutela, and her fiancé James Reynolds, five nieces and nephews Patricia M. Stefanik, Michelle Thivierge and her husband John, William Shearstone and his wife Leslie, Angeline Shearstone and Jennifer Shearstone and her partner Cole Cloutier. She is also survived by three great nieces and nephews Billy, Amanda, and Matthew Shearstone.

A memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday February 16, 2022, at St. Mary’s Stony Hill RC Church in Watchung at 10 am followed by the inurnment at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Cemetery.
