Obituary of Elizabeth Gmunder

Elizabeth Gmunder, age 96, passed on Friday, February 25, two days before her 97th birthday at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune City, NJ.

Born and raised in Pfäffikon, Switzerland, Elizabeth moved to America in 1951. She had resided in Watchung for over 50 years before moving to Tinton Falls several years ago.

Prior to her retirement, Elizabeth had worked as a sales associate for Sears in Watchung. Elizabeth was a former communicant of St. Mary's Stony Hill RC Church in Watchung. She enjoyed swimming and knitting but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren.

Elizabeth is predeceased by her husband, Kurt, in 2009, and her son, Peter, in 2021.

She is survived by her son, Mark Gmunder, and his wife, Charlean, three grandchildren, Alex, and his wife, Rosemary, Kristin, and Kurt. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 1st from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Cremation services will be held privately.
