Obituary of Luann Gaffney
Luann Gaffney, age 65, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital Somerset located in Somerville, New Jersey. Luann was born in Plainfield, New Jersey, and grew up in the New Market section of Piscataway close by, graduating from Piscataway High in 1974. Luann lived in Warren for several years before moving to the Sunset Lake section of Bridgewater 35 years ago.
Luann began her career at International Harvester, a construction equipment company in South Plainfield, where she met her husband of 33 years, Donald Gaffney. After raising her children, she continued her career as a Finance Specialist at Affinity Federal Credit Union in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
Often described as having a witty and unique sense of humor that would light up a room and keep everyone smiling, it was important to her that everyone was having a great time at every function. Luann enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, gardening in the yard, painting, cruises, and occasional trips to Atlantic City with her treasured girlfriends. Most of all, Luann loved spending time with her granddaughter, Rose, as she cherished being a Grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Gaffney, son, Donald Jr., daughter, Samantha, and her daughter, Rose, and stepson, Eric Gaffney. Also, mourning the loss of this amazing woman are her brother, Andrew Smigelski of Leesburg, VA, sister, Marianne Hadzimichalis of Harmony, NJ, and sister, Diane Maticic of Wallace, SC, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family she loved with all her heart.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung, New Jersey. A funeral service will also be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the funeral home.
