Obituary of Ermando Cardi

Ermando "Cesarino" Cardi, age 98, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at his home in Berkeley Heights. He was born in Lenola, Italy, lived in Staten Island and had resided in North Plainfield for over 50 years before moving to Berkeley Heights 8 years ago. Mr. Cardi was a tailor for Hilton Clothing Manufacturing in Linden, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in North Plainfield. Ermando loved his vegetable garden, wine making and playing bocce and soccer. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Elda A. Cardi in 1995 and a granddaughter. Surviving are his son, Retired Colonel Cesare Cardi and three daughters; Elizabeth Lavornia, Lita Batistoni and Yone Daly; his nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, July 3rd at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Joseph's Church, North Plainfield. The interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
