Obituary of Frederick Jahn Sage
Frederick (Rick) J. Sage, age 52, passed away on Palm Sunday and Masters Sunday, April 10, 2022 in the comfort of his home in Warren Twp. New Jersey, surrounded by his loving family. Born at Muhlenberg hospital in Plainfield New Jersey, he was raised and lived in Warren Township New Jersey.
Rick attended and graduated from Watchung Hills Regional High School in 1987 and then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University New Brunswick in 1992.
Rick was a loving and compassionate individual. He spent many summers in Long Beach Island enjoying all the beach had to offer. He was an avid surfer and incredible and passionate fisherman; he enjoyed boating and riding his bike. In recent years he enjoyed strolling along the beaches searching for buried treasure with his metal detector. He was an active member in the Brant Beach Yacht Club for the last 30 years.
Rick was also an avid golfer. He enjoyed traveling with his close friends to prominent golf courses around the country. He cherished spending time with those friends enjoying great meals, a few good drinks and countless great laughs.
Rick also treasured spending countless weeks down in the Florida Keys every year, as he put it, “in paradise"
Rick was the owner and operator in partnership with his brother Jonathan of RJS Landscape and Tree Service, located in Warren, New Jersey. Over the years he developed countless dedicated clients who relied on him for his professional experience and relentless dedication to doing the projects to perfection. Many of those clients became close friends over the years.
Rick was also an animal lover. He constantly took care of any animals that needed help. It was not uncommon for Rick to buy food and supplies for animals before he would buy things for himself.
Most of all Rick loved to laugh. He was well known for his humor and relentless antics. He will be missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his father Edmund M. Sage Jr., his mother Jeanne W. Sage, his brothers; Edmund M. Sage III and Jonathan A. Sage and sister Susan J. Sage, his brother-in-law Aaron W. Covey and sister-in-laws to be Jennifer Coppola and Karen Midlaw. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; Samantha J. Sage, Edmund (Esch) Sage, Madison L. Sage and Charlotte J. Covey. Rick is also survived by his amazing and devoted black Labrador Retriever named “Dokey” who will miss him till the end.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022, at 1 pm at Our Lady of the Mount Roman Catholic Church, located at 170 Mount Bethel Rd., Warren Township New Jersey. A repass will immediately follow the memorial service at Alfies restaurant located in Warren Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations can be made to The American Cancer Society or St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center in Madison NJ.
