Obituary of Eric Dummett

Eric C. Dummett, age 65, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.

Eric was born in Jamaica (Queens), New York on May 6, 1957, to John and Judith Dummett. 

He attended East Orange High School in East Orange, NJ, and went on to further his education at Seton Hall University, where he received his BA in Communications. That was not enough for Eric, and he went on to graduate from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, receiving a BS in Computer Science. 

Eric worked for the State of NJ at UMDNJ, and at Novartis (formerly Sandoz Pharmaceutical).  In recent years, Eric and his wife Yolanda relocated to Pennsylvania, and Eric went to work with the US Postal Service. 

Everywhere Eric worked, he made a lasting impression on his co-workers for his work ethic and kindness.  Eric was a devoted family man. 

He is survived by Yolanda, his wife, and partner for over 40 years, stepson Imari, granddaughter Saniyah, his three sisters, Denise McArthur, Paula Benson, and Lynn Dummett, niece Kimberly, nephews Troy, Corey, John, and Jason, and a host of other family and friends. 

Eric always will be known for his wit, sense of humor, his kindness, and willingness to always help others.  Those memories will always and forever remain in our hearts.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A service will follow at the funeral home starting at 1 p.m.
