Obituary of Mario Alvarez
Mario Alvarez, age 79, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022. He was born and raised in Guatemala City, Guatemala on June 4, 1942 to Pedro and Concepción Alvarez. Mario was also a longtime resident of Plainfield, NJ.
He was employed as a Heavy Machinery Mechanic at Astro Rents Equipment Rentals located in North Plainfield, NJ.
Mario frequently attended services at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
He greatly enjoyed watching soccer and spending time with family and friends. Most of all he enjoyed playing with his beloved grandchildren.
Mario is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carmen Ruiz in 2011, and his two brothers: Nery Rolando Alvarez and Carlos Enrique Alvarez.
He is survived by his son, Emilio Castellanos, and his wife, Danielle Tavares; and his three grandchildren: Ethan, Aeden, and Aanabella Castellanos.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A service will follow starting at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery of Samptown, 1400 New Market Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ.
