Obituary of John W. Coletta

John W. Coletta, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown. Born in Summit, John grew up in New Providence and resided in North Plainfield for 20 years before moving to Green Brook in 2005.

John received his Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio in 1969.

Prior to his retirement, John worked for 34 years as a middle school physical education teacher at Hubbard Middle School in Plainfield before retiring in 2004.  He was a baseball, soccer, and basketball coach.  He loved his students.

In his spare time, John enjoyed working on his fish pond, maintaining his lawn, and spending time with Muriel and their late dog Riley – Riley passed away in late April and now he and John are together and happily watching over us. John loved the challenge of fixing broken things and was a wonderful storyteller. He also enjoyed investing in and following the stock market and economy.

He is survived by his loving wife Muriel of 32 years, his daughter Kristen Roshto and her husband Marshall, his twin grandchildren Remy and Robin, and two brothers Daniel (Sharon) and Peter (Janice) Coletta. He is also survived by a host of extended family and loving friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 1 pm to 5 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ 07069. Cremation services will be private.
