Obituary of Janie Loberfeld
Janie Loberfeld, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at her home in Fanwood. Born in Newark, Janie had resided in Hoboken and Jersey City before moving to Fanwood in 1978 to start her family.
In 1965, Janie graduated from Jersey City State College with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She later went on to earn a Master's Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling, both also from Jersey City State College.
Janie began her career as an elementary school teacher in Jersey City, NJ, and later took on the role of a guidance counselor at Dickerson High School in Jersey City, NJ.
In her spare time, Janie enjoyed taking walks and playing scrabble with her friends. She was an avid reader who enjoyed reading novels and the daily newspaper.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Loberfeld, and her two sons: Michael of Linden, NJ, and Donald of Charlottesville, VA.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ, followed by the burial at Beth David Cemetery in Kenilworth, NJ.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the American Cancer Society.
