Obituary of Raoul Guanlao

Raoul Guanlao, age 76, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida.  Mr. Guanlao was affectionately known to his friends and family as Rolly, who was born and raised in San Juan Rizal, Philippines.  Rolly immigrated to the United States in 1973, he moved to Middlesex, NJ in 1985 and resided in Tarpon Springs, FL in 2010.

Rolly graduated from the University of the Philippines in 1967 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. in Architecture.  In 1986, he was employed at Kajima Associates INC in Rochelle Park, NJ as an Associate, Deputy General Manager, and he retired in 2010 after 24 years.

He enjoyed golfing, boating, and fishing in Brigantine, NJ, and Florida, watching movies, traveling, and playing poker with his friends, but most of all he loved spending quality time with his family.

Rolly is predeceased by his parents; Candido Guanlao and Bonifacia Eustaquio Guanlao, and his two brothers, Armando Guanlao and Candido Guanlao, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Leticia C. Guanlao; two loving children, Farrah Molfetta and her husband Rich Molfetta and Rainier Guanlao and his wife Kristy; his grandchildren, Alexa Molfetta, Cayden Molfetta, Weston Guanlao, and Whitney Guanlao; his brother, Jess Guanlao, his sister-in-law Cynthia Guanlao, and many nieces and nephews. In addition, he is also survived by numerous sisters and brothers-in-law.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A funeral service will be on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1621 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union, NJ.
