Obituary of Elester Hough
Elester Hough, age 85, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022, in Somerset, NJ. Born in Ansonville, NC, to the late Robert Hough and Nellie Lindsey Hough Stanback, Elester had resided with his family in Plainfield, NJ since 1971.
Elester began his career with Acme Markets and then went on to work for ShopRite. He retired from there after 35 years of employment as a Night Crew Manager at the ShopRite location in South Orange, NJ.
Elester loved working in his backyard garden. Every summer, his family and neighbors would look forward to receiving his delicious tomatoes and cucumbers. He also loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandson.
Elester is predeceased by his loving wife Edna (Rogers) Hough in 2015. The couple were married on August 6, 1961, in High Point, NC, a devoted marriage of 53 years.
He is survived by a loving son Ryan Hough; and a beloved daughter Lesley Piccoli and her husband Martin. He is also survived by a cherished grandson Matthew and a whole host of loving family and friends.
The live stream of the funeral service will take place on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ.
