I read that in the Jewish religion it is a great honor to pass on one's birthday- meaning that your mission in life has been accomplished. Carol had a mission. She fulfilled that mission and I know she is at peace with God.
For many years growing up in Marlboro, Carol and I were inseparable- her home was like a second home to me. We both shared the same wild imaginations. In the days since she passed I am flooded with memories of her; devouring books in a day, listening to music and spending hours pretending to be somewhere or someone else. We grew up in an era where we had relatively little, and against a backdrop of challenges our time together transcended any hardships we faced.
Carol was so beautiful. Inside and out. But she always had her own unique style. She was always a person of great conviction and she didn't give in to the pressures that surrounded us. Her unwavering faith in God was always evident- and she obviously lived that faith in her actions towards others.
