Obituary of Alan David Nacht
Alan David Nacht, 93, passed away on November 2, 2022. Beloved husband of 60 years to the late Rose Brecher Nacht. Father of Arthur Nacht, Susan (Kenneth) Sherman, and Barbara (David) Rosen, and grandfather of Jeffrey Rosen, Marc Sherman (Lindsey Gaston), Adam (Melissa) Rosen, and Amy Sherman (Jeffrey Campbell). Great-Grandfather of Shayna Rosen and Benjamin Sherman.
Born in Newark, NJ, to Irving and Nellie Nacht, Alan was active in school activities such as drama and the marching band. In college, at the Georgia Institute of Technology, he played the clarinet in the marching band and received 2 degrees in textile chemistry. He returned to Atlanta to participate in Georgia Tech homecoming events, even joining the marching band on the field. He enjoyed performing as a member of a community symphony in Raritan Valley.
Alan served in the US Army at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland during the Korean War. He was a lifelong employee of Johnson and Johnson, specializing in research and development and packaging technology. Alan served as the president of the J & J retirees’ group and organized events. He also volunteered as a tax advisor to seniors for the AARP.
A resident of Plainfield N.J. and later, Martinsville N.J., Alan was a long-time member of Temple Sholom in Plainfield and served on the board as treasurer.
He loved trip planning and exploring new cities and international travel. NYC was a favorite destination for day trips to museums and plays.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 189 Gill Lane, Iselin, NJ.
