Obituary of Joseph T. Washington

Mr. Joseph Thoedore Washington, age 77 entered into eternal rest peacefully on Monday morning, August 11, 2014 at home with loving family in attendance. Joseph was born in the Bronx, NY on April 9, 1937 and lived there until age 3 when his family moved to Plainfield, NJ. He remained there 75 years prior to moving to Hephzlbah, GA to live with his daughter and son-in-law. Joseph joined the US Air Force in 1955 upon leaving Plainfield High School. Soon after his discharge, he attended Jersey City Medical Center to become a Radiologic Technologist. After graduating, he was employed at Muhlenberg Hospital and Rahway Hospital. Later, Joseph was employed by Frigidaire until retiring in 2002. Joseph was predeceased by his father, Joseph Lee Washington, his mother, Mildred Washington and his only sister, Ruth E. Washington-Motley. Joseph is survived by his sons, Melvin Caldwell and his wife, Sandy, Kyle Cassett, Joseph Lee Washington, II, Angelo Omar Muhammad and his wife, Colette, Michael O. Washington and his wife, Daniele, Charles Holloman, Tracey Baucom and Travis Washington; his daughters, Isha J. Harris and her husband, Harvey, Rita Flowers and her husband, Gregory and Mary L. Roper and her husband, William. Joseph leaves to mourn many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins as well as friends.
