Obituary of Maureen T. Watkins
Maureen Theresa Watkins, 85 years old, died on December 21, 2022. She was the middle child of Ruth Mary (Butcher) & Thomas Gibson Watkins. She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas, who died in 1945, and her sister Margaret Mary Dickerson died in 1995. Her grand-niece, Sarah Elizabeth Frino, died in 1995.
Her life was influenced by her entry in 1956 into the Benedictine Sisters. She became steeped in Monasticism, and it guided her life. She taught in Elizabeth and Cranford and always treasured her students. She left the convent in 1969.
She was a Senior Interviewer for the State of New Jersey for 33 years. She worked in Newark and Plainfield, finding jobs for people. She retired in 2002.
She was a member of the parish community of St. Bernard’s Church in Plainfield. She prayed daily and was sustained by her faith throughout her life of joy and trials.
She is survived by her loving and caring nieces and nephew, Deborah Frino and her husband, Richard, Joanne Mauro and her husband, Anthony, all from Sumner, Maine, and Pastor Thomas Dickerson and his wife, Amy of Green Brook, NJ. Her grandnieces and grandnephews, Diane Campbell and her husband Christopher, Nicholas Mauro and his wife, Emily, Steven Dickerson and his wife, Sandi, Brianna Boutin and her husband, Mark, David Dickerson and his wife, Sarah and Bethany Dickerson. Her great-grandnieces and nephews, Gabriel Mauro, Adelynn Dickerson, Nolan Dickerson, Virginia Mauro, Jeremy Dickerson, Lola Dickerson, Pierson Boutin, Mila Boutin, Madisyn Boutin, and Mackenzie Boutin. They always gave her joy and love.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Chapel Middlesex, 100 Fairfield Avenue, Middlesex, NJ 08846.
