Obituary of Frank Woo
Frank Woo passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones in Watchung, New Jersey on October 2, 2012 at the age of 71.
He was born in Portland, Oregon, the first of 3 children. He and his family returned to Shanghai, China, while he was 6. He was educated in China and returned to the US in 1962 and resided in Tarrytown, New York. He attended New York Tech to earn his degree in Electrical Engineering.
He met his true love, Grace, in 1970. At the time, Grace was attending the graduate school at CUNY. They got married at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. They were overjoyed to have their only daughter, Amy.
He began his career at Western Electric as an engineer, and progressed to an International Marketing Manager with AT&T and Lucent. Frank had received many Achievement and Global Awards in recognition for his outstanding contributions to the International Operations Organization at Lucent and AT&T. After his retirement, he worked at Caldwell Banker Realty.
Frank was a very gentle person; he loved to help people, he was compassionate, considerate, and the most reliable and responsible person. He was the founder of Chinese American Cultural Association (CACA); he loved to spend his time and effort developing and educating young people and creating community events; he was also the Chairman of the Young Peoples' Musical Program for 10 years. He loved music, and was well known for his deep, sonorous singing voice; which will be missed by all his friends and family.
He also loved to travel around the world with his wife and daughter. He traveled all over the world for projects and leisure in Asia (China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, and Hawaii, etc.), Europe (France, Italy, England, Germany, Egypt, Greece and Mediterranean countries), and countless other destinations where he enjoyed experiencing the culture, people and tasting delicious food. He and Grace especially enjoyed going to Taiwan; a place they considered their second home.
Frank's good virtue and memory will live forever in the hearts of his loving wife, Grace, his daughter, Amy, his future-son-in-law Jason Bates, his siblings, Tommy, Jeanette, and their respective spouses, Rosalie, Francis, and his nephews and niece, Peter and wife Alyce, Timmy, Victoria, his grand-nephews Michael, Nicholas, Daniel, Christopher and his grand-niece Isabella.
We would like to thank you for all your love and support. Frank's memory will live forever in our hearts.
