Obituary of Lourdes Monroig

Lourdes “Cookie” Monroig, age 59, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Allentown, PA. Born and raised in Isabela, Puerto Rico, Lourdes had resided in Plainfield for many years before moving to Allentown, PA, eight years ago.

Prior to retiring, Lourdes loved working and taking care of the children at the daycare center in North Plainfield. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking for her family and making jewelry. Lourdes had a true passion for singing and dancing and always had a smile on her face.

She is survived by her son Benjamin Gonzalez and his fiancée, Stefany; her two grandchildren, Daphne and Aiden; and her three siblings, Rafael, Ivan, and Homero.

She is predeceased by her mother, Aida Martinez, and her siblings, Roger and Osbel.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ 07069 with a 1 p.m. service at the funeral home.
